All we need is love

There is so much warmth in a family function. You get to meet your loved ones and exchange pleasantries. I wonder how people can live without this beautiful phenomenon. We are getting more and more nuclear and the once big family is getting replaced by a small one. A worrying trend if you ask me. Yes, more independent, but less secure.

There is a strange charm in a big family. The first one being affection. The second being care. The third being understanding. I could go on and on. I recollect memories of my grandma. She had 8 kids, all with allegiance towards her. It was fun to go to our ancestral home just to see her welcoming face and that ice cream that she always used to buy for us.

Once she passed away, that was the end of our ancestral home. I still remember her when I tread through the road across that house. There were guava trees in the front, where I remember to have climbed umpteen times followed by a broken knee. My grandma would apply some traditional medicines to the wound and it would heal fast.

I personally would love my children also to get as much affection as possible from the family. Both mine and my wife’s. If not as a joint family, at least my loved ones should keep visiting us frequently and vice versa. I feel the more the merrier. It would be good for the kids as well as for us. We need love mostly. After all we are all God’s children, aren’t we?

The shortcut to success

Never get a feeling that brings you down. Remember, every one of us is special. Nobody is superior or inferior to anyone. Do not compare or criticize others, especially their strong points. Learn from all that happens. You are the captain of your ship. Steer it in a positive way always. Everyone is in a particular situation. Understand that and be helpful.

Some people say that only the rich can do it or you have to be in a special family to do that. All that is hogwash. Anybody who is willing to stake it out can make it. Your aspirations are all real and you are the main person who can make it come true. You may need help. There is nothing wrong in seeking out. But then, you have to help in order to be helped.

There are billions and billions of snowflakes every winter. Every one of them is shaped different. You are also special in the same way. For that matter each one of us has some latent skills which need to be discovered and harnessed. Don’t give up the fight. Stay on. If you keep persisting, sooner or later it will happen. You are a winner and you are bound to make it.

Learn to wait. It may not be your time right now. But keep on keeping on. Pour your love into your dreams, like an artisan who moulds a clay pot. There is nothing more potent than this. Pure dynamite. The goal is not important. The journey is. Squeeze out every single trickle of your deep down desire into this life and see how you achieve your mission.

To your success …

One World

One World – I saw this speech of a 12 year old girl, who spoke for 5 minutes at a UNESCO conference. It was very moving and I felt ashamed, because a part of it, still rings in my ear “If you can’t rectify it, at least don’t break it” She was talking about the environmental damage. At school we teach them nice things. When they come out to the real world, they are caught unawares.

I think there is a lot of truth in what the kid said. We still keep cutting trees to make paper, when we teach them in the school that we should not cut trees. Yesterday only I heard a story from my 5 year old son the moral of which was ‘Don’t cut trees’. I’m beginning to wonder when he grows up, how will I answer his question. And this is just one of the things that we preach but don’t follow.

Adulthood - The stage when we get caught up in the worldly act. Every one of us has heard the John Lennon song ‘Imagine’, but how many of us dare make that come true. The reason – priorities – they keep changing often. Callousness sooner or later sets in. The dream that we had as a kid now doesn’t seem to be a real one. Now we have dreams of glory mostly for ourselves.

Climbing up the corporate ladder or being an entrepreneur or something else. Everyone seems to be having only one goal – to succeed in whatever they want to. The road is immaterial. What matters is the destination. And once we reach there, we realize that it was a hollow dream. Now there is no harm in making one’s dreams come true. But as long as it’s not aligned with nature which knows no boundaries or castes or religions or for that matter does not judge anybody, the dream will remain muffled. Please go ahead and make a change – for the better – to end all atrocities and provide our children with a better future – One world.

To your dreams …

What's my destiny?

There is such a thing as destiny for those who don’t believe in their dreams. Planetary positions however dire they may be, cannot affect a man who works towards a goal. There is literally nothing in this world that can stop you, if you are determined. Again let me remind you, this game is not for the faint hearted. Those working without aims, get affected by planetary influences.

But work you must. There will be mountains of obstacles. Consider them as learning. The harder you fall, the stronger you rebound. Wisdom is not something that can be learned. It happens to you out of your experience. Naturally. Prayers can help only if you Ask -> Believe -> Work Hard -> Receive. Claim only things which you are willing to work for.

Most of the people in the world want a shortcut. Even if you achieve it, you will be deprived of the learning that comes out of it. Hence take the long road. Fundamentals almost always are correct. Except if you are willing to believe in miracles. Luck happens to those who steer themselves persistently towards the direction of their dreams.

The stars and planets are just guides. They may not be in an influential position for you at a particular point of time. Don’t lose heart. Work harder. Persevere. And I’m sure you will reach your goals. Look at the planets as teachers. They are there to teach you something that you are missing out. Don’t lose control. Go further and you’ll soon find that all clouds have a silver lining.

An encounter with God

I saw him that day. He was lying on a bed of roses, with an acknowledging smile. Then I started talking with him. Not through words, but thoughts. He had an amused look about him. Then I panicked as I did not know what to say to him. But the thoughts were profusely bleeding from the upper part of my skull. I tried to be coherent. But I just couldn’t.

In the meanwhile, I saw him give me a naughty smile as if saying to me, get a grip. Then tears started flowing from my eyes. I did not know what to say. All the while, his pithy eyes where looking at me with an expression that I really cannot express. He did not say a word, but his eyes said it all. I pinched myself. Was this a dream? No.

I could feel him now. His pain for a world where so many people live in throbbing anguish was evident to me. He asked me (literally) was there anything that I could do to relieve the situation? And I kept crying. That’s all I did. I was so much in awe and emotions kept getting the better of me. Finally I left the room and came back again just to see that he had vanished.

I was dumbstruck at the very thought that I had a brief encounter of the special kind. I kind of pulled myself together and was reminiscing what had happened. Suddenly a thought struck me. Maybe all of it was an illusion. Or maybe it wasn’t. Anyway I made a promise to myself that I would do my part. And I heard ‘Amen’ from up above.

This is one of those strange incidents that happened in my life.

Let's dance

This life is God’s gift. Do not squander it away. There are no rights and wrongs; there is no heaven and hell or for that matter devil. Life is simply a dance, played by God through you. Enjoy each moment of it. We have a limited time for our play, before death claims us. So live like a king. By that I don’t mean riches or money. Your heart should be like the wide blue open sky. And you are a king.

There is nothing like you have to leave a legacy behind or you have to be ordained to a duty. As long as you are like that flower which blooms for others or like a waterfall in the depths of the forest waiting to be discovered, you have nothing to fear. Know that this sunlight, the air that you breathe, the trees and the birds are all free. There are no taxes on these.

Be wary of the world with its multitude of laws. Made by man, to be followed by man. Some good, some bad, some fair and some unfair. Think of the world as a bar, where everyone comes to drink. Some get drunk, some end up in a brawl. Others after the kick is gone, return back home. There are so many different people in so many different situations.

Don’t be a recluse. Face the world. But don’t get carried away. Because, most of us do. The dance is everywhere. Learn to recognize it. The real from that which is false. The earlier the better. Time does not wait for anyone. Whether you are the ace player or the sordid loser, the same death awaits you. So before you exit, spread as much of fragrance as you can and most important of all – dance.

Till the last breath …
