The Solar Eclipse Syndrome

Today was a fateful day of the Solar Eclipse. There were so many channels on TV that covered the details. I remember especially one channel where they had called many astrologers and scientists to air their views about this event. Both were on a bashing binge of each other. Scientists trying to say that there is nothing special about the eclipse and gave their rational observations and facts to the viewers, whereas astrologers were enumerating a list of do's and don't-do's for different people based on their Moon Sign, I think it was.

Then I realized the great disconnect. Both factions were not knowing what the other side was saying exactly. While the scientists were quite objective about their views, the astrologers were of the opinion that Science was way behind astrology. It may be true, but it's not a complete statement.

Here's my take. Astrology is a great science. But not all astrologers have perfected it. Hence if you go to two different astrologers you get two different predictions. Mantra, Yantra, Tantra are not for the faint hearted. They have deep symbolisms ingrained into the core of their existence. Only some have mastered this art. The other aspect of predictive astrology is that it is very subjective. By this I mean the predictions are totally based on the astorolger's competence more than the subjects's say Lagna position.

As far as science is concerned we are proud of the fact that the ephemeris - the basis of charts in astrology is today brought out by scientists. While the objective facts remain true, we are yet to get there. I mean interstellar travel, living in space et al.

There is a little bit of psychology that also comes into play – like the placebo effect. Anyway, to me the future seems to be fusion. All these streams would merge into a unified explanation that will extend the probabilities of a truth being held so highly that it transgress's from the lairs of mythology onto the facts. In fact we would be having cheatsheets on the same very soon. How soon I do not know, but one thing I do is that life lived simply as in the olden days was much more conducive to good health and the overall well-being of man.

Today the choice factor is greatly out of control. Look at Twitter or Facebook. So many messages out there. According to studies 90% of email is spam. So much to do in so little time. I say ,stay focussed. Do what is important – by that I mean your heart's call. Maybe you won't become like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet. But what the hell – You would've lived the life the way your inner voice told you to. And that is all that matters … Stay calm and stay fit.
